Slavery impacts

Slavery was a very hard issue and concept to grasp. During its time it was a widely accepted practice but for those who saw past what people believed to be beneficial, there was an unsettling truth. Fredrick Douglas was a black man and during much of his time he simply accepted the facts that since he was black that slavery was his place. Eventually from his expanded mind with reading and writing capabilities he saw how degrading the entire system was. His mistress on the other hand I felt had misunderstood what slavery was and in turn she feared it. She felt that since it was such a horrible thing that something horrible will come of it. No good could come of something that forced rules against God given rights. The slaves she saw were stripped of their rights and dignities. I believe that this is why she felt scared and feared slavery as a whole, because the fact that there is a great possibility of harsh repercussions. Her fear was soon realized and became very real throughout much of the distress within the United States during those periods of indecisiveness and great turmoil. Overall I felt some feared slavery from being held within it but there were other that feared it because of what it could unleash. There was great pent-up hatred and anger caused from slavery and it all snapped the day that the slaves had enough, and the fear became very real.
