Face it, Stains are Evil

Whether it be for the sale of a product or just to attract prospective customers, advertising has taken over society. It is a method which is used by both successful corporations and local businesses. There are many different forms of advertising ranging from verbal, face to face, advertising to signs and billboards. Despite the wide variety of methods, the number one way to advertise is through television commercials. Considering the fact that most people, especially Americans, spend numerous hours in front of a television, most companies take this into consideration and invest heavily in creating their own television commercials.

With the stress of advertising focusing on television commercials, when a gigantic event like The Super Bowl rolls around, every company knows that millions of people are going to watch it. With this in mind, companies know that if they can get their corporation advertised, their business will sky rocket. The only problem is that this year it cost over two million dollars for a thirty second commercial. This is the biggest discouraging factor for every company because most can not afford it.

For this year’s Super Bowl, the most persuasive commercial was the Tide Stain Remover one. One of the largest methods of creating an extremely persuasive commercial is to identify who the intended audience is. By appealing to a certain audience, the companies can direct all the efforts and get excellent results because the commercial won’t be very broad. Instead it will make sense because the commercial does not jump around all over the place. The most influential commercial was one which used humor in order to catch the audience’s attention. The humor lied with in the stain which talked and muffled its owner’s voice. The intended audience was the adult population because everyone knows how difficult interviews can be. Then when you see the interviewer only paying attention to the stain remover, the audience can put themselves in the shoes of the person getting interviewed. The audience would prefer to see the person getting interviewed succeed, but it did not happen.

Along with appealing to the audience, the Tide Stain Remover commercial was also very persuasive because of the language which was used and the acting done within. The language which was used was very broad and general. This allowed for people of all ages to understand what was going on. Also, the talking stain was very annoying which provided humor through the usage of language. Right beside the use of language, this commercial had very good acting. The expressions which the interviewer gave were hilarious and the reactions by the person getting interviewed were awesome. Also, because they were sitting in an office and the mood was supposed to be serious and the outcome was the exact opposite of serious, the commercial thus very funny. In the end, this commercial was the most persuasive commercial because it used different techniques to sell its product.
