Name Changes

Growing up in the Dayton and Huber Heights area, there were many name changes going on as Huber Heights expanded to the North. However, the most confusing name changes had to do with Persian at the Fairfield Commons mall. A few years ago Persian was bought out by Elder-Beerman which created the two Elder-Beerman stores now currently at the mall. After remodeling it into the all women’s and teens store and changing the original Elder-Beerman into the men’s, children and all the other stuff inside it store, these Elder-Beerman stores got bought by Bon-Ton. Now, the names on the credit cards that you use when checking out differs from the names on the outside of the stores and differs from the names that people refer to them as. This can be confusing to people who are not used to the different names they are referred to as. This became very obvious when my friend Kate and I took two girls from my floor shopping and while we were in a store and the two girls were waiting in line, and Kate and I told them to meet us in Persian because we were going to go before them so we could use the bathroom. We ended up getting a phone call about ten minutes later saying that they couldn’t find this store and then we remember that the name change happened and me and Kate just laughed about it as we told them how to find us. Name changes can take awhile to stick and people will use the old name for many years after they are changed.
