Bob and Carols to Community Market

There is a grocery store in my home town that has changed names a year or two ago but everyone still calls it by the original name. It use to be called Bob and Carols though it changed its name to Community Market. Bob and Carols was the biggest grocery store in our town for the first half of my life. There were three grocery stores in my town and two of them were Bob and Carols. Then one of the Bob and Carols went out of business this took some of the popularity of Bob and Carols. Then Krogers built a new store and it over took Bob and Carols as the top grocery store in my town. Then Wal-Mart built a new super store that had a grocery store in it. This also led to Bob and Carols becoming the lowest grocery store in my home town. This is all what lead to the name change of Bob and Carols.

My dad came home one night and said he stopped at Community Market. I was completely confused when he said this. I asked him where he went and he said again Community Market. He then went onto tell me that Bob and Carols had changed its name to Community Market. I asked if anything has changed with the store. He went on to tell me that the store was exactly the same. So I then asked him why they changed their name. He said it was because they were under new ownership.

The rest of the town still calls Community Market, Bob and Carols. If you were to ask anyone in my home town to go to Bob and Carols they would go to Community Market. Though if you were to ask anyone in my home town to go to Community Market over half would probably not know what you were talking about. This is because we are just creatures of habits. We are just use to calling it Bob and Carols so that is what we call it. It has nothing to do whether the name is good or bad.

The changing of the name has not changed Bob and Carols at all. It is still the same grocery store that it has always been. Different people do not go to Community Market just because it has changed names. This has led to no major change in my home town. I do not think that changing names of places changes anything at all. All that changing a name does is making people confused. Changing the name does not make the money flow any better to the business.
