HWS

If I were to come up with a new style of citation it would be called the HWS. This would stand for the Hendershott Writing Style. This would be the best way of citing the information in a paper. It would outperform MLA Style. It would make it much easier to cite the sources also.

The first way that it would be helpful was the way that the Work Cited page was set up. First the information will not need to be in alphabetical order. This will cause less work for the person who is writing out the Work Cited page. The next thing is that the citation will have a different order. All citations will be the same no matter where it comes from. If it is from a book or an internet site they will look the same.

Authors Name. Were its from. The date that it was found. The date that it was published.

Publisher.

This gives general information that is needed to find the information. So the person does not have to find tons of information that is hard to find.

Another big change From MLA would be that there are no in text citations. Instead the citation will be a page at the end with the information on where it came from and the passage from the paper. This will help to clean up the paper. Without in text citations the paper will be pure writing without anything to distract the reader.

The most important part will be that the students name will not be on the front page or the pagination. This will stop teachers from just grading papers due to the student who has written the paper. The name will be on the last page of the paper at the bottom. This will be a great improvement to the MLA style of writing.

I feel that this would be a much better writing style than MLA style. First off HWS makes it much easier on the student who is writing the paper. This will allow more time spent on research and on writing of the paper. This will cause the paper to be of a higher quality. The HWS will not stress students out when they are at the end of a paper. This will help both the teachers and the students. Overall this will just be a better style.
